Media institutions/channels that broadcast Urban teen drama programme

E4

E4 is a British digital television. The "E" stands for entertainment, and the channel is mainly aimed at the e 15–35 age group.
  • E4 is the entertainment destination for a cutting edge young audience
  • Its eccentric and witty persona and strong branding make it a massive talking point
  • E4 is on Freeview, DSAT and cable, and E4 HD on Sky increasing its audience potential big time
  • It also won channel of the year at The Broadcast Awards in Feb 2011

      New episodes of The Big Bang Theory pulled in an average of over 1m across the quarter-22% share

    History
    In October 2005, More4 was launched to complement Channel 4's digital channels. ER and The West Wing subsequently moved from E4 to More4.
    Since 2006, E4 has sponsored the E4 UdderBELLY venue (part of Underbelly) at the Edinburgh Fringe and Brighton Festival.
    The venue took the form of a giant upside cow in the purple colour of E4's logo in July 2008 and aimed at a similar demographic to its sister television channel
    E4 acquired the rights to several new US comedies throughout 2011 and 2012, a few of which were New Girl and  2 Broke Girls

    C4

    Channel 4 was one of the first "publisher-broadcaster" stations in the world. the channel began transmission on November 2 1982 which is owned by Channel Four Television Corporation a public body established in 1990. Channel 4 became the first UK wide TV channel in time, it became the fourth television service in the United Kingdom for the television licence funded BBC's two services and the single commercial broadcasting network.

    The channel also has sister channels such as 4seven, Film4, E4, More4, Kiss, Magic etc. Furthermore there is a time shift channel for channel 4 which is called Channel 4 +1. The popular programme the audience watch on this channel is Big Brother, Celebrity Big brother, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding.

    BBC 3

    BBC Three is a television network from the BBC broadcasting via digital cable and satellite platforms. The channel's target audience includes those in the 16–34 year old age group, and has the purpose of providing "innovative" content to younger audiences, focusing on new talent and new technologies. The channel is on-air from 19:00 to around 05:00 each night.

    On average, nine million people watch BBC Three every week and it has a 2.6% share of he 15–34-year-old audience and 1.7% of the whole population.These ratings by BARB, the official ratings agency, average out BBC Three's viewing figures over a 24-hour period even though the channel only broadcasts in the evening, giving a distorted sense of the channel's viewership

    History

    • On 12 May 2011, BBC Three was added to the Sky EPG in the Republic of Ireland on channel 229. It was later moved to channel 210 on 3 July 2012, to free up space for new channels.
    • For the duration of the 2012 Summer Olympics, BBC Three increased its broadcasting hours to 24 hours to provide extra coverage of Olympic events
    • Unlike its commercial rivals, 90% of BBC Three's output is from the United Kingdom and other European Union countries. 80% is original, covering all genres, from current affairs, to drama, to comedy to animation
