Cinematography of Two extracts...
                                  scarface Trailer

Cinematography of Scarface in 1932-  The film Scarface goes under the genre of crime/drama/thriller and action. This film was made in 1932 and was in black and white. The film was to take place in Chicago. In this film trailer we see a various amount of different shot types and angles. In the beginning, we see a medium shot of a man with a machine gun in his hands, this straight away gives the audience clues on what genre this film is crime as its one of the iconography of this genre. On the same shot and the same clip the title of the film 'SCARFACE' zooms out in the screen with red blood, this connote that the film features blood and violence. The next shot of the clip is a group of men aged 25-35 are presented smoking on the roads, by the costume, the suits they are wearing, we are able to tell that the protagonist is the one in the grey colored suit as he is intentionally standing out from the other black suits which also shows power and high status. also, by their costumes we can tell what year the film has came out which would be in the 1930's and this would attract audiences who are fans of older films especially black and white.Later on we see a close-up of Scarface this is done to show the raw expression on his face and how he has no fear in him this could also appeal to audiences who share the same ideologies as him.

                                                       The Lucky One - Trailer(2012)

The film i have chosen to do do is a love/romance movie 'The lucky one'. The genre of this film falls under romance and drama. At the start of the trailer, the scene starts with a extreme long shot  to show the setting the movie might take place at a dasert in iraq . The fact that there is currently war going on in iraq , it might connote that the drama might contain some disagrements as it progrecess. As we watch the trailer, medium shot of Zac Afron shows he is the main character in this movie. this enables the viewer to get a first impression of the character by the look of him and by his facial expressions, which the character is confused. A
Then from 0:23 the camera switches to a close up on paper with a message ' keep safe x'.

this is done to illustrate the emotions that the character might be going through. an unsafe enviroment. The fact that the text has an 'x' it could connote that the character might have a lover back home. this highlights the genre of the film - romance. Aslo this gives us clues about what the narrative might be. Furthermore there is then a long shot of all the characters inside the house to show what they are doing. It is also gives the shot a cheerful atmosphere as everyone is enjoying each others company. The majority of the shots being used are medium shots/medium close ups of the characters, which is effective because  the shots highlights their emotions in looking sad or happy and the times both of the main characters have shared together.
